THE LOOP

Located in the heart of Science Village in Lund, Sweden, THE LOOP is a dynamic architectural hub that fosters collaboration between science, business, and education. The LOOP is a symbol of interdisciplinary innovation, positioned between two of Europe’s leading research facilities, ESS (European Spallation Source) and MAX IV.

Vectura Fastigheter commissioned Modulex to develop and implement a full interior and exterior signage concept that reflects the building’s bold architectural identity and functional needs.

Working closely with Vectura and the Science Village Hall operator, our team created a signage program rooted in modular design, bold typographic elements, and a warm, inviting aesthetic. The concept features:

  •  Black and warm white modules, framed in black for a clean, consistent visual identity
  • Freestanding exterior signs and dimensional letters in warm white acrylic, illuminated with neutral white LED lighting (5000K)
  • Signature sculptural pylons that enhance orientation and add character to both interior and exterior spaces
  • Minimal visible fixings for a refined finish

One of the project’s core challenges was integrating the signage system with THE LOOP’s strong architectural language while ensuring clarity for diverse users, including tenants, conference attendees, and the general public.

Our team worked closely with the construction contractor and client stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination from design through installation. Every element was carefully planned to maintain design intent while adapting to evolving on-site conditions.

Sustainability was a key driver throughout the project. The signage system was designed to be modular and adaptable, allowing for future updates without replacing entire structures. Durable materials such as powder-coated metals and acrylics were selected for their longevity and low maintenance. Energy-efficient LED lighting further supports the building’s environmental goals.

A modern, multi-story office building named "The Loop" is illuminated at dusk, with exterior lights highlighting its brick and metal facade.
