The Bevan Health and Wellbeing Centre
The Bevan Health and Wellbeing Centre, located in Tredegar, Wales, is built on the former site of the Tredegar General Hospital. As the birthplace of Aneurin Bevan, the founder of the UK’s National Health Service, Tredegar holds a significant place in healthcare history. The new centre serves as a modern, community-focused medical hub, continuing the legacy of healthcare in the community.
The team in London, UK worked closely with the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to create a tailored interior signage solution for the new facility. The project included wayfinding signage, as well as a visually captivating vinyl mural that welcomes visitors upon entry. This mural of Aneurin Bevan is made up of smaller images displaying local residents, providing patients and visitors with a vivid and engaging scene. The community-centric artwork invites people to look closely, sparking connections as they recognize familiar faces among the images.
One of the challenges during the installation process was applying the vinyl to a curved wall. Thanks to the premium quality of the materials used, this challenge was expertly handled, resulting in a flawless finish. The signage was fabricated in the Billund, Denmark factory, with a focus on sustainability, using GreenBond™, one of our eco-friendly materials.
The Bevan Health and Wellbeing Centre merges modern healthcare with local history. This project is a testament to the power of design to create functional spaces and reinforce connections between people and place.
