Kvartetten
Located in Hyllie, Malmö, the Kvartetten building showcases modern architecture focusing on sustainability and wellness. Developed by Wihlborgs Fastigheter, Kvartetten is WELL Core Gold certified, reflecting its commitment to a healthy work environment. Our team in Sweden was asked to create a signage solution that complements the building’s wood-inspired aesthetic.
The project included exterior entrance signage and interior wayfinding, with designs aligning with the building’s natural wood elements. The exterior signage features the building name and address numbers, with prominent figures mounted on vertical stanchions and street names on horizontal frames. “Kvartetten” is displayed above the entrances, enhancing visibility and branding.
Interior wayfinding extends the wood theme, using MDF with wood veneer and plywood with black laminate. Key features include:
- Floor-standing wooden signs in stairwells to encourage stair use, supporting WELL certification.
- Double-sided floor-level signs are visible from both elevators and stairs.
- Elevator directories, room signs, function signs, and informational signs about the building’s artwork.
A significant challenge was ensuring the exterior signage matched the building’s high design standards while remaining functional. The entrance required prominent, lightweight address figures, achieved using a combination of premium 3M wood-patterned foil and modern warm white acrylic lighting. This combination mimics a classic neon look with a contemporary twist, balancing aesthetics and practicality.
Eco-friendly materials were used extensively throughout the project. The exterior signs were decorated with 3M wood-patterned foil, reducing the need for new materials and supporting the project’s sustainability goals.
By integrating natural elements and innovative materials, the project sets a benchmark for modern building design that prioritizes beauty and environmental responsibility.
