Ideon Science Park
Ideon Science Park is one of Sweden’s premier innovation centres. It is home to numerous cutting-edge companies in various sectors, including tech, life sciences, and clean energy. As a bustling hub for collaboration and research, the park provides a dynamic space for businesses to grow and flourish, fostering creativity and innovation.
The Swedish team recently partnered with Wihlborgs Fastigheter to develop a comprehensive exterior and interior signage concept for Ideon Science Park. The project spanned multiple phases and included designing, managing, manufacturing, and installing a diverse range of signage across the park. Ideon’s extensive campus consists of several blocks, and the signage scope includes more prominent facade signs, area and tenant signs, and interior and exterior wayfinding solutions to guide visitors through the park.
A key focus of the project was sustainability. The team adopted a circular approach to minimise environmental impact, refurbishing hundreds of Modulex panels for exterior and interior use. This involved disassembling, repainting, and updating existing signs, reducing waste and the need for new materials. We also used eco-friendly materials such as recycled acrylic and bio-based components to reinforce the project’s green credentials.
One of the standout achievements was the remake of custom-made illuminated ground signs, including two striking 16-meter pylons. We effectively balanced aesthetic appeal with environmental responsibility by reusing parts of the construction and cladding. Similarly, approximately 500 Modulex panels were refurbished, and disassembled components were returned to our factory in Billund, Denmark, for further recycling.
This project showcases the potential of sustainable design in large-scale developments, proving that environmental impact can be minimised without compromising quality or functionality.
