Hospital Santa Maria is one of Portugal’s leading healthcare institutions, serving thousands of patients each year through a wide range of specialised departments. As the hospital continues to evolve, maintaining a consistent and intuitive wayfinding system plays an important role in creating a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff. 

Our Portugal team was tasked with extending the existing wayfinding and environmental graphics throughout the facility. The objective was to create wall graphics that help people identify interior spaces. To do this, they designed and applied vinyl graphics to existing walls, doors, and other interior surfaces while maintaining consistency with the standards already implemented across other hospital departments. 

One of the project’s greatest challenges was achieving reliable adhesion across a variety of existing wall surfaces. Careful preparation and precise installation techniques were essential to ensure a durable, high-quality finish throughout the department. 

The completed project integrates with the hospital’s existing wayfinding system, creating a cohesive environment that supports clear navigation while reinforcing a consistent visual identity across the facility.
