Glaskuben
Glaskuben at Kalvebod Brygge is characterised by its striking cubic form and a large central atrium that connects the city with the harbor. The building’s transparent architecture places particular demands on how visual elements integrate naturally into the overall design.
At the end of 2025, our Denmark team delivered a complete wayfinding solution for all 10 floors of the building. The solution included everything from overview directories and floor signage to door signs, pictograms, and directional guidance.
Design Principle: Signage That Intentionally Stays in the Background
Glaskuben is a building where light, openness, and architectural lines are central elements. For this reason, a key intention of the project was that the signage should not attract unnecessary attention. It needed to be clearly visible to those looking for it, yet visually restrained in all other contexts.
To achieve this, the signage was:
• Kept in neutral colours that harmonise with the building’s materials
• Designed using Messenger Interior’s flat, calm panels
• Strategically placed to guide users without disrupting architectural sightlines
• Produced in materials and proportions that support a light and discreet expression
This approach resulted in a solution that blends seamlessly into the building and becomes a natural part of the user’s movement through the atrium, corridors, and office areas.
System Selection: Messenger Interior
Messenger Interior was chosen for its flexibility and refined, minimalist appearance. The system offers:
• Modular, interchangeable panels that make content updates simple
• Multiple installation options (wall-mounted, projection-mounted, freestanding, suspended)
• Materials such as painted aluminium and moulded components produced in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified facilities
• A consistent visual language that creates calm in an environment dominated by glass and long sightlines
The completed signage project provides users with an intuitive and logical way through the building, while the wayfinding respects and supports the architecture rather than competing with it. This is a project where the discreet presence of the signage is the very core of the design solution.
