Craftsmen’s College

Our team in Denmark has recently completed a comprehensive signage project for the Craftsmen’s College in Herning. In this dynamic environment, young apprentices develop professionally and socially, combining modern facilities with a strong sense of tradition and craftsmanship.

The signage assignment included interior and exterior elements, ensuring clear orientation across residences, workshops, and common areas. The project featured wooden name rails where students can design and replace their own nameplates, lacquered aluminium letters and house numbers, cut-out foil for storage and depot areas, and privacy film for the common hall and workshops. Each element was designed to be functional while reinforcing the college’s identity and cohesive campus experience.

One of the key challenges was to create signage that was highly practical while reflecting the college’s visual DNA and sense of community. The team achieved this by carefully selecting materials, colours, and finishes that harmonise with the college’s bright and active environment, while ensuring durability and ease of use in high-traffic areas.

The Craftsmen’s College project demonstrates how signage can do more than guide: it can create identity, cohesion, and a sense of belonging. By combining thoughtful design with functional solutions, the Denmark team contributed to a space that supports students’ learning and social development while respecting the values of craftsmanship.
