UNIVERSITY COLLEGE AT UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO
November 24 – 2021.
The University of Toronto brought in our team to design, manufacture, supply, deliver and install a complete signage package for the project, including interior and exterior signage/wayfinding and donor recognition signage.
Our initial schematic design proposal included Modulex modular sign system for interior signage, but the client preferred something more substantial in terms of substrate, something elegant yet simple. It evolved into ½” thick non-glare acrylic with contrasting background and text. The depth of acrylic gave substantiality to signage without obstructing the beauty of its building aesthetics. We were able to source a font that was very similar to its original stencilled room numbers, which still exists throughout the original parts of the building.
We created unique signage for the Library, custom millwork for the special collections in the main atrium. Custom made signs were to be mounted on these custom millworks. It was challenging that we had to pick material and colour that matched perfectly to millwork. We ended up connecting directly with the company that supplied and installed the millwork in the Library and had them stain to match what they had done before.
We are excited to work closely with the University stakeholders. We were able to ensure that the signs were designed, produced and installed correctly without obstructing the beauty of your building’s aesthetics.
