Nykredit and Spar Nord

Following the merger of Nykredit and Spar Nord, the banks set out to establish a cohesive visual identity across locations throughout Denmark. As an important element of this transformation, façade signage plays an essential role, not only as a marker of presence in the urban landscape, but also as an expression of the new shared identity.

The team in Denmark worked to implement façade signage across multiple sites. The project was based on a carefully developed signage manual, ensuring a consistent design framework while allowing for necessary adaptations across different buildings and architectural contexts.

One of the central challenges was balancing two distinct visual identities. The existing logos differ significantly in form, proportion, and visual weight, requiring a considered approach to achieve harmony while maintaining strong recognition for both brands. At the same time, the signage needed to perform effectively as illuminated façades, delivering clarity and visibility both day and night.

The solution focused on creating visual balance through precise adjustments to scale, spacing, and placement, as well as ensuring a consistent lighting expression across all locations. By working systematically with proportions and light intensity, the signage presents both brands clearly and cohesively, without competition.

Where possible, existing signage elements were reused, reducing both costs and resource consumption as part of a more sustainable approach. All newly produced signage incorporates modern LED technology, supporting energy efficiency and reliable long-term performance.

The result is a unified façade signage system that supports the new joint identity, enhances recognition across locations, and integrates seamlessly into a variety of built environments. The project demonstrates how thoughtful signage implementation can help bring two established brands together into one cohesive visual experience.
