I attended the University of Exeter, for Politics and International Relations. I had been applying for internships for a long time, and then this one came up. I took the opportunity, because I saw that the factory in Billund, Denmark was really focused on sustainability. I felt because Modulex has been working with the environment for a long time, it has never been an official thing; it’s been more of a cultural thing. It’s in the DNA of the company to be environmentally aware. Still, there wasn’t structure or a department or a team of people that were dedicated exclusively to that. It was extremely motivating and exciting that there was space for somebody like me to bring that knowledge to Modulex.

I never had any problems. Management was always there helping. They helped me with all the legal stuff. I think I’m speaking for Daniela and me in this case when I say we’re both people who are kind of independent. It’s still important as an intern to be proactive and make sure you are doing your part in the process.

I recommend the interns live in two different towns and not in Billund, one town is called Kolding, and the other one is a town called Vejle.

Interns need to know that this is not an entry-level internship. It’s a management one so interns will be managing a project. You will not be getting a role with micro-tasks, but it was more like these macro-objectives, and you have to figure out the way for some of them. 

There was more macro-management, which I was happy with. I was grateful nobody was standing over me to get my work done. However, I know some people need things broken down step by step, which is not necessarily bad, and I think they will eventually learn too not to be micro-managed. I am a self-sufficient person in that sense, and I had to figure out my way. I was also required to ask lots of questions.
