To celebrate Global Recycling Day 2024, Modulex is proud to reflect on our commitment to sustainability and recycling practices. This date reminds us of the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling to preserve our environment and resources for future generations.
Sustainability is ingrained in our corporate culture, and recycling plays a pivotal role in our manufacturing operations. In 2022, we achieved a remarkable milestone by recycling 91% of our waste, surpassed in 2023 with 92% of waste recycled. This achievement underscores our dedication to minimising our environmental footprint and maximising resource efficiency.
Of the waste recycled, 58% was directly reused and recycled, while 33% underwent incineration with energy recovery. This process not only diverts waste from landfills but also contributes to generating electricity for district heating in Scandinavia, promoting renewable energy sources.
Our pursuit of sustainability extends beyond waste management. We continuously strive to integrate new products and raw materials into our production processes, influencing the type of waste we generate and increasing our reusal and recycling levels. One such initiative involves incorporating innovative recyclable materials like Green Cast® acrylic into our products.
Moreover, Modulex has embraced circularity by introducing products crafted from recycled content and waste sourced from other industries, such as our latest development, which is made from recovered carpet waste, ReBond. By upcycling materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, we strive to reduce environmental impact and foster a more sustainable approach to manufacturing.
As we commemorate Global Recycling Day, Modulex reaffirms its dedication to advancing sustainability and recycling efforts. We recognise that our actions today shape the world of tomorrow, and by embracing the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle, we can build a brighter, greener future for all.
