Addressing the need for a dynamic, welcoming and flexible space for MSc students at the Copenhagen Business School, architects Rønnow Arkitekter A/S were requested to create a wayfinding analysis and signage manual which then led to the successful production and installation of exterior and interior signage products from Modulex.

Due to increasing student numbers, Copenhagen Business School had a need to increase their facilities by the addition of Graduate House. Located in Frederiksberg, close to their main campus, the 6000m2 five storey building, previously the Hamlet Hospital, has been transformed into a dynamic studying environment, conducive to learning both in and out of the classroom with a mix of open study areas, cubicle style booths, lecture classrooms, student hub and canteen for 4,000 students.

Rønnow Arkitekter A/S specialise in the respectful transformation and extension of architecturally significant buildings and had a brief which required a practical level of navigation whilst remaining sympathetic to the design and essence of the building.

The solution included both exterior and interior signage created in a variety of materials. Each floor is easily identified through prominent vertical aluminium lettering, whilst vinyl glass graphics provide a visual accent, for safety and privacy, to the small meeting rooms. Place finders are located at key decision points incorporating cognitive maps whilst the Modulex Interior Basic Paperflex system was selected where regular updating of door signage was required. Outside the building visitors are guided to the main entrance by Messenger monolith directional signage where they are met with a 4m x 2m aluminium identity sign whilst cut lettering stands proudly over the main entrance.
